Okay, Okay...I'm spillin' the beans so to speak...

I sat down, and wrote down 10 whole names for a boy (first and second names), and then I asked Nathan to also. (using a book my parents used to name me!)
The one name (of the total fourty we wrote down) we both had written down, ONLY ONE of the fourty was : Gage. So we decided his middle name will be Gage.
Now....still undecided is the first name (poor baby!) We need your help. (still might not use either of these names, however we are torn between the two: 1. Rylan 2. Austin (not using both, only one)...what's your opinon!?

Still think Steven Micheal or Micheal Steven is a good one. But what do I know.

I think Rylan Allen flows quiet well, honestly. So you like Austin better...your'e like the only one who's liked 'Austin' better, made Nathan smile. :) uhm. and Tina, Lane is your last name...that is so lame. sorry! :) you can give that one up! (fyi-I don't like Ryan...too original.)
Thanks for the input Steven....coming from a big brother, who's got no nephew yet, I understand your 'need'. Amy

OK, you asked for it, so here's my true, honest opinion...

If you name him Rylan, he'll be saying "RyLan" not "Ryan" the rest of his life. Not only that but it kinda sounds like a girl's name.
Then again, people name their girls Ryanne. Sorry, that's just MY intial thoughts! Don't tell him I said so if you do name him Rylan!

Austin is a classic, manly name, and it's easy to spell for his sake and everyone elses! I'd go with Austin.

Luv, Pamela

Hi, Amy,
I must join in on this conversation, since you asked for input...:) I personally think Rylan will be difficult to pronounce and spell forever. Almost no one gets your dad's name right...Charlton. Even though I think it's a nice name, it's never correctly spelled. Back to the baby, some might call him Rylan, like 'Reelan' or 'RyLan' like dryland, or some might say "Reelan" as in 'Reelawn' or Rylan as in 'nylon.' As to Gage...thumbs down on that one for me, too sorry. I can see him getting teased throughout his life with that name, i.e. "Gagee, as in MacGee," or 'Gagee, as in gag, :0' Or "Cage" or "Ga-ga-ge, goo, goo" by his pun-loving little friends. But, in the end, it's you and Nathan who have the honor of naming your little son, and whatever you choose will be honored by all, I'm sure. I like Austin, and many of the ones you've mentioned to me. Ask Natalie to pronounce those names that you are considering for an inside take on how difficult it'll be for people to say. If he is named in honor of someone else, that will make it special. I know that, as I am lucky to have two namesakes... Elizabeth Carol Rhenberg, my honorary niece, and of course, Natalie Carol, my sweet grandaughter. and I've felt so lucky and honored.
Love you much,
Mom

i've resisted putting my two cents worth in, but here you go anyway...

i agree with Pamela. the conversation will go like this:

"whats your name"

"rylan"

"ryan?"

"no, ryLan"

"Oh, ryLanne"

"no, just rylan. like ryan but with an L"

"oh, but not Ryan, right"

"right."

---pause----

"what's your name again?"

Sorry, see this is why Mark and I don't tell the name. That way mean people like me can't say anything. I like Austin though,I do, but it does sound a little odd with Allen. This also the reason Mark and I don't even have a name to have an opinion about. Way to put yourself out there though. You're pretty daring.

Sarah, you are not mean....and no one has been mean about it. ?! :) I still don't see the difficulty in Rylan? (one would have to be pretty dumb/stupid to mistake Rylan for ryan???, the 'L' is specifially pronounced) Beleive me you, I've read the name ALOUD over and over and over, and still I love the name. But, I don't want to give my child a hard way to go in life b/c of everyones' silly behaviors, which is why I am asking for input! :)
