4.19.2006

Well, Well, Well. Time rolls around again, the three probably most stressful days of the year for my job have arrived, and thankfully almost over with. Our Annual State Survey started Tuesday morning around 12:00 p.m. Department Heads run around like chickens with their heads cut off, fetching this and that for these ol'e state surveyors, not able to leave the building until they do, wondering what the next "word" on things are, just looking forward for that third day to be here and GONE! There's no doubt in our minds that things will be just fine, however, you know that nothing and no one is perfect. Having had a very close family member in a health care facility, I know what it's like to be on the "consumer" end of wondering what it's like behind the doors, and down that 'service hall'. Is it clean, how, who, and what's cleaning it, and when, how's the food cookin'? , and lookin'? , you know, all that stuff you wonder and worry about yourself. So, here I am Managing a kitchen, might I add a very DIFFICULT task in itself, itching with the desire to say NO, or YES, BRAVO...that's how I like and want it done! :) HA! If you want people to work for and with you, you must figure out their skill abilities, and encourage them to do their best! Not easy. Every department head has their own talent to 'juggle', and I think we do a darn good job of it. I wouldn't EVER want the DON (director of nursing), or the Administration positiion...EVER!!!!, or MDS coordinator....housekeeping, or laundry, barely want Dietary anymore, So, it just goes to show, that there's no easy job, and bottom line....these ole' state surveryors make it even rougher! I wouldn't want their job either! It all boils down to a job, gotta be done job, that noone else wants to do kinda' job! :) Wish us luck here at Rivers Bend Retirement Community, and keep us in your prayers!
Today I am thankful for :
1. A semi-good day at work.
2. Talking to Steph last night on the phone. Even though I received very bad new from her, it was good to have finally got to talk to her. Please keep the family of Scott and Stephanie Johnson in your prayers. Scotts' Dad passed away, and tommorrow is the funeral. (tommorrow being 4/20/06.
